There is a famous story of two masons, who were asked what are you doing? The former mason said,

"Can't you see I am laying bricks ?"

The later one proudly looking at the structure he is working on and said with sparkling eyes, "I am building a beautiful cathedral"

When you work somewhere for just for the pay, that's a job...

When you are not happy with what you contribute, that's a job...

When work weeks are tiring and you live only for weekends to show up, that's a job...

When you just think short term, that's a job...

When what you do is not what you love or be proud of, that's a job...

Years back, it was easy to stick on to a job with an organization with almost the same colleagues and enjoy all life's moments together until retirement.

Once you make an entry to an organization, you are almost certain, the job is secure unless you do any stupid things and get yourself fired.

Now, what's constant is only change, markets are changing, traditional jobs are disappearing, people are fired on a fine morning without any clues, responsibilities are added even for the existing job titles, robots are taking away all those tedious jobs, in this scenario holding on to a job for an entire life course is merely a daydream.

Once you accept this present scenario, you know your degree of control, what we could do is only to steer towards a predetermined direction throughout our journey.

As of today, we may handle different roles in our career, handle a new set of responsibilities in multiple organizations and continue learning forever to meet rising demands of skills and competencies.

Assimilating all bits and pieces of our work life builds a giant remarkable 'cathedral like' contribution to this world, which we call as a REWARDING CAREER...

Life's not always sunshine and rainbows every time.

Only a few people are fortunate enough to have on a career path from day one.

Sometimes we may have to do part time/ full time jobs for the bread and butter or fund our higher studies.

The key idea is when you have a clear view of what you want as a career, all your efforts, even if you like it or not, contributes to creating an amazing career brick by brick, day by day through your effort with passion, enthusiasm, and dedication.
